Hi Antox!

Don't know if you're still wrestling with this issue... I had the same problem with my new iMac 2011 and Garage Band 11. I found that the MIDI driver that installs with the Digidesign (Pro Tools) core audio driver 9.0 r3 was breaking Garage Band to the point it would lock up during boot up.(Lots of 'force quitting' going on....) I called Apple Tech support and they couldn't figure it out... they had me reinstall Garage Band (3 times!) and finally had me wipe my whole drive and reinstall the system. This was on my brand new iMac 27' running Lion 10.7.3

The Digidesign CoreAudio Driver is a multi-client, multichannel sound driver that allows CoreAudio-compatible applications to record and play back through the following Digidesign audio interfaces: Pro Tools HD Accel Pro Tools HD Digi 002 Digi 002 Rack Mbox 2 Pro Mbox 2 Mbox 2 Mini Mbox Not Supported with Digidesign CoreAudio Driver v7.x: Pro Tools 24 MIX systems Pro Tools 24 (d24 card.

OUCH!

  • (1) 1 product ratings - Digidesign Digi002 Rack FireWire Interface w/o ProTools- Digi-002 R Avid U152947.
  • The Digi 002 Rack supplied for review included the 2U hardware unit, CD installers for both Mac and PC, a printed Getting Started manual and a 12-foot, 6-pin to 6-pin Firewire cable.

After doing a little research I finally tried reinstalling the DIGI core audio drivers and DELETING the Digidesign MIDI drivers that install with them. The audio drivers work fine without them. Everything is working now... (Granted, you can't use the MIDI in/outs of the Digi 002r) but the audio works fine.

In Garage Band inputs I see ALL the audio channels of the DIGI 002 available.

The site for the Digi core audio drivers is here:

Download and install the drivers, then go into your library and delete the DIGI midi drivers:

Like you, I'm considering moving to LOGIC and want to make sure that my DIGI hardware is compatible with the 002.... as of now, it looks like it's working 😀
