The Walther PPK (Polizei Pistole Kriminal) was produced since 1930. It was developed for a hidden carriage. The engineers from Walther reduced the length, width and weight. The main difference to the PP is the frame with no back strap. this function was integrated in a single molded Grip. Also the grip was shortened, so the clip has only a capacity of 7 rounds. The shortness was balanced with a magazine-shoe on the bottom.

- 1/6/21 - This is a mint example of a Walther PPK chambered in.22LR and manufactured in 1965. This one is special because it has a lightweight duraluminum frame. It comes with a period-correct box that is close but not matching, an owners manual, one flat bottom magazine, one finger extension magazine, and a test target. The serial number on the test target is really close, but we cannot tell.
- Pick up a copy of either E.J. Hoffschmidt's 'Know Your Walther PP & PPK' or Gene Gangarosa's 'The Walther Handgun Story: A Collector's and Shooter's Guide.' Either one of these books will contain an index of serial numbers for Walther guns. Keep in mind Hoffschmidt's book was written circa 1975, so it will have information that is more dated.
- I believe that your Walther P-38 was produced during 2 time spans. The first being 1957-1963 if your Walther P-38 is marked just P-38 with the serial number. The second time frame is between late 1963-1977.this will be marked P-1,and the serial number listed. Both of these variations were of a alloy frame with later versions having a reinforcing cross bolt in the frame.Another variation was the P.
